Our homestead was started in April of 2006, with just a few chickens, a garden, and dreams of what our future would be like...and a few months later, we bought our first dairy goats, two Saanen doelings, named Cassie & Zoe. The next spring, we had our first goat kids, and soon started making cheese, since we were getting gallons of milk each day! We raised Saanens for several years, and in 2012, decided to sell our herd, and take a break from goats for a while. As for the chickens, in 2008, we began seasonally-raising meat chickens (broilers) on pasture, for ourselves and others who wanted better food for their families... and we also started selling eggs.
In the fall of 2015, we decided to get back into goats, this time, though, instead of the largest & heaviest-producing dairy goat, we purchased the smallest of the dairy breeds, the Nigerian Dwarf Goat. These little goats have stolen our hearts, and we LOVE the delicious milk they produce!
We are now in our 11th year (wow! where did the time go!?!), of raising chickens for both meat and eggs.... and we are in our 5th year of raising them on Organic/non-GMO feed & chemical-free pasture.
